The Salvation “CHANGE”
Your Ability to Witness what Jesus Did for You
When a person receives the gift of God and becomes born-again/saved/redeemed (whatever term you like to use for salvation), they have the Holy Spirit of God come into them as a well for them to draw from (John 4 and 20). When that happens, there is a change in them. That change in your life is one of the things you can witness about.
John 4:10-14 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?” Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 20:19-22 (NLT)
That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
The passage in John 20:19-22 is when the first disciples got the “well.” This is the account of when the Holy Spirit first came into believers as a well for them to draw from. When He—the Holy Spirit—comes to dwell in us, we obtain a source of refreshing that can never be taken away. This happens to us when we receive Christ; when we become born-again.
Every Christian has experienced the change when the Holy Spirit comes into their life, just as you experienced the circumstances and situations change in your life in the unique way they did for you. This change is one of the things you can witness about to show that God’s existence and that He will be there for others too. When we come in contact with people through the Can I Get A Witness program, we often hear different historical accounts about their lives. With this information about them, we start building rapport with them and relate to them how God has changed our lives. The things that God has done for you He will do for others, too. Let them know about your story, because you have something to say.
